In a post on the BioShock: The Collection Steam page, community manager Joseph Brant addressed a number of issues currently affecting BioShock and BioShock 2, including support for a number of fan requested features as well. Oddly enough, many of these issues are actually the same ones that affected the original game over eight years ago.
While the update doesn’t yet have a timetable attached to it, Brant confirmed that the team is currently working on the following:
General Mouse Fixes, including better Mouse Smoothing, Sensitivity and Acceleration Options in BioShock; Additional Speaker Mode Options in Audio Settings in BioShock; Improved FoV Slider Options in BioShock, BioShock 2 and Minerva’s Den; Support for 21:9 display ratios in BioShock, BioShock 2 and Minerva’s Den; General stability improvement to reduce instances of game crashes.
Even after all of the graphics comparison trailers which were released prior to launch, it seems the PC versions remain underwhelming for players, as many have taken to the forums to complain that the game looks re-textured and not remastered at all. With a number of visual updates outlined above, it will be interesting to see if this will satisfy players or if more work will need to be done.
In addition to the updated visuals and inclusion of every piece of DLC across all three games, 2K has added in another new element to entice longtime fans to jump back into the game. Golden Film Reels have been scattered within the first game in the collection, serving as a collectible for players to find. These reels unlock director’s commentary videos with Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson, giving fans some interesting insights into the series.
If you’re playing on the PC version, how do you feel about the current state of the game? Do you think these upcoming changes will help or is there more work to be done? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
