Since the Xbox Series X/S consoles were released, they have been regularly updated with things such as a 4K revamped dashboard, optimizations to the pin system, and improvements to the app integration. Like many of the adjustments made in earlier patches, the September update is inspired by feedback from the Xbox community that has been observed and implemented by Team Xbox. The September patch is available today and given that most Xbox Series X/S units automatically update, Xbox fans may already be seeing the alterations from Team Xbox that streamlines menu navigation and personalizes the experience a bit more.

The September update includes an overhaul to the Xbox gaming library, something that has received changes in the past and continues to evolve as Microsoft improves the platform. Because many Xbox owners have expanded their storage options beyond what’s offered in the base consoles, the September patch also has new storage and installation menu selections that may make locating where a game or app is downloaded a bit simpler. Although the initial Xbox Elite Wireless Controller will perform in the September update as it has in prior months, some quality-of-life adjustments have been made to the Series 2 gamepad.

The Xbox One controller featured an Xbox button that illuminated with a bright white light and that has remained the case on Xbox Series X/S until changes to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 in the September update. Using the Xbox Accessories app, Series 2 controller owners can alter the color of the central light by choosing one of 27 pre-set ones or by moving the hue and saturation sliders to discover the other 16 million potential options. Because sharing clips using the Xbox Bar on PC has been problematic in the past, the September update also includes a shareable link for videos that can be sent to others via SMS, WhatsApp, Twitter, Messenger, and more.

While many Xbox fans took to the September update’s announcement to express enthusiasm for the various adjustments that have been made, one suggested that things have been made more confusing and another asked that the UI be reverted to the old Xbox 360 blades design.
